Who is Anatol F.? Some say, he is an ineffective intellectual, who has failed both in the communist state and in democracy. Others regard him as a dreamer, or philosopher, who isn't capable of fighting for his dreams, neither anarchist nor socialist. Perhaps he is a reflection of the Polish society?
Kim jest Anatol? Niektórzy twierdzą, że jest nieefektywnym intelektualistą, któremu nie udało się odnaleźć zarówno w państwie komunistycznym, jak i również w ustroju demokratycznym. Inni uważają go za marzyciela, który nie potrafi zawalczyć o swoje marzenia. Albo filozofa, który nie jest ani anarchistą, ani socjalistą. A może Anatol stanowi odzwierciedlenie polskiego społeczeństwa?
Illustrating Anatol was not an easy task. The author of the book, Piotr Frączak, has asked me never to show Anatol's face. Henceforth, I was forced to find other ways of expressing Anatol, using scarfs, hats and glasses. These atributes made my character faceless, and yet he has never remained anonymous. I have created him on paper when I was merely 19. Since then, I have illustrated many other characters, and yet Anatol F. remained the most important figure out of them all. The book "The Adventures of Anatol F." has been published in 2009, by Kooperatywa Pozarządowa.
Ilustrowanie Anatola nie należało do najłatwiejszych zadań. Autor książki, Piotr Frączak, poprosił mnie, abym nie ukazywała twarzy Anatola. Od tamtej pory, musiałam szukać innych form przedstawienia Anatola, używając szalików, kapeluszy i okularów. Atrybuty te spowodowały, że mój bohater nie ujawnił twarzy, a jednocześnie nie stał się anonimowy. Stworzyłam go na papierze w wieku zaledwie 19 lat. Od tamtej pory, stworzyłam wielu innych bohaterów, lecz Anatol F. pozostał najważniejszą postacią , jaką kiedykolwiek zilustrowałam. Książka "Przypadki Anatola F." została opublikowana w 2009 roku przez Kooperatywę Pozarządową.
